WHO Sounds Highest Epidemic Alert: Mpox Cases in Africa Surge Sharply, East African Coffee Industry Faces Severe Test
On August 15, the World Health Organization declared that the outbreak of a rapidly spreading mpox variant in Africa constitutes a "public health emergency of international concern," the highest-level global epidemic alert under the International Health Regulations.
