Rotten avocado chunks found in a ChaPanda drink, raising fresh doubts about the chain's food safety controls
Recently, a consumer exposed that in a ChaPanda takeaway drink, they fished out a piece of avocado that had not been crushed and had already spoiled, sparking widespread attention. The drink involved was from ChaPanda's previously launched fruit and vegetable smoothie series, which in principle should not contain obvious fruit pulp residue. After the incident was exposed, many ChaPanda employees and netizens spoke out, directly pointing to serious dereliction of duty in store operations. At present, the customer has received a full refund and platform compensation, and ChaPanda has also proactively apologized and discussed compensation. This controversy has once again pushed the issues of ingredient quality control and employee operating standards at chain tea beverage brands into the spotlight. [more…]
Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association: New crop exports may decline, robusta prices expected to remain high until April next year
At the 27th Asian International Conference, the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association signaled that due to the triple factors of reduced output, depleted inventories, and rising domestic demand, Vietnam's coffee exports in the 2023/24 season are likely to fall below the previous year, while export prices are expected to remain high. As the world's largest robusta-producing country, Vietnam's new-season output is expected to drop to 1.6 million to 1.7 million tons. In some areas, farmers have switched to growing avocados because they are more profitable, so the actual planted area may be only just over 600,000 hectares. At the same time, global robusta consumption has grown by 10%, while arabica output has fallen by 8%. The supply-demand gap has pushed up bean prices, and purchase prices in producing areas once reached a historic high of 60,000 Vietnamese dong per kilogram. Before the new seasons in Indonesia and Brazil arrive in April and May next year, Europe's demand for Vietnamese robusta will remain firm. Front Street Coffee continues to monitor developments in producing areas and sort out price and supply changes for enthusiasts. [more…]

Jamaica Wallenford Estate: Flavor Characteristics and Industry Background of the Oldest Blue Mountain Coffee Region
Blue Mountain coffee is widely recognized as one of the world's finest coffees, and Jamaica's unique climate, geology, and topography provide it with exceptional growing conditions. The Blue Mountains stretch across the eastern part of the island nation, with elevations exceeding 2,100 meters. The cool, damp, and foggy environment, combined with terraced mixed-cropping, allows coffee trees to grow alongside bananas and avocados. However, the Jamaican coffee industry faces challenges such as hurricanes, labor costs, and difficulties with mechanization, and ninety percent of Blue Mountain coffee is preferentially purchased by Japan, leaving the international market chronically undersupplied. Only coffee from the four regions of Saint Andrew, Portland, Saint Thomas, and Saint Mary, certified by the CIB, and grown above 2,000 feet may be labeled "Jamaica Blue Mountain." The oldest estate, Wallenford Estate, as a wholly state-owned enterprise, participates in cultivation, processing, and sales throughout the entire chain, and has profoundly influenced Jamaica's national coffee standards. Front Street Coffee has always followed this legendary producing region. [more…]
Shanghai café launches a salmon sushi–flavored specialty drink, 80 yuan per cup with no actual fish, and netizens are split in their reviews
What flavor would arise from a collision between classic Japanese cuisine salmon sushi and coffee? A coffee shop in Shanghai recently launched a special blend with a salmon sushi flavor priced at 80 yuan, claiming it can simulate the taste of liquid sushi, yet it actually contains no salmon at all. The founder's公开 recipe shows that oat milk and wasabi paste simulate the rice, avocado cream milk cap simulates the fish, and it comes with a separate "soy sauce" made from espresso. This special blend quickly sparked heated discussion online, with some people exclaiming "don't come near me," while others who tried it said the taste was not bad. Beneath its bizarre appearance, is it a dark cuisine or a creative delicacy? [more…]
