As summer approaches, many friends enjoy making iced coffee, and cold brew coffee is a simple iced coffee that everyone can make at home! So, does cold brew coffee require specific coffee beans?

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

Cold brew coffee is a very easy method to master. Front Street Coffee's cold brew method uses 50 grams of coffee grounds as the base, with the grind size set so that 85% passes through a No. 20 standard sieve. Place the coffee grounds in a glass bottle, then add 400 milliliters of room-temperature water and 200 grams of hard ice cubes (totaling 600 grams of ice-water mixture), giving a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:12. Then use a stirring rod to mix the coffee grounds and water evenly, seal the bottle, and place it in the refrigerator.

After 12-24 hours in the refrigerator, use filter paper to remove the coffee grounds and obtain a clean coffee liquid. Then pour the coffee liquid into a clean sealed bottle and refrigerate for about another 4 hours before drinking. Considering food safety, Front Street recommends drinking the prepared cold brew within 5 days.

So, what coffee beans are recommended for cold brew coffee?

The liquid produced by cold brew coffee is not as transparent as that of ice drip coffee, and a thin layer of oil will float on the surface. In terms of flavor and mouthfeel, it appears slightly heavier and more balanced. It is recommended to choose some medium-light roasted coffee beans, as this can bring out the refreshing, clean feeling of cold brew coffee.

If you want a refreshing, juicy feel, you can choose light-roasted washed coffee. We recommend Front Street washed Yirgacheffe (floral, citrus) and Front Street Kenya Little Tomato (pear, smoked plum);

If you want a stronger fruity and wine-like aroma, you can use coffee processed by anaerobic natural or honey processing. We recommend Front Street Colombia Sidra (passion fruit, grape), Front Street Big Navel (berries, apricot), and Front Street Strawberry Candy (rose, candied fruit);

If you do not like coffee with acidity and only enjoy a balanced, rich "coffee flavor," you can choose Front Street Papua Bird of Paradise (nuts, toast).
