1. Fresh coffee beans

First pour: Blooming (helps release gas)

After reaching a certain degree of roasting, a large amount of gas (mostly carbon dioxide) accumulates inside the coffee beans.

Dark-roasted beans also release more gas during blooming than light-roasted beans.
