The moka pot is a coffee brewing device that uses steam power to create pressure for siphon extraction. It is suitable for outdoor camping and home use. As long as there is a heat source and fresh coffee beans, you can extract a highly concentrated coffee liquid, then dilute it with water according to individual taste preferences to make moka pot Americano, or add fresh milk to make moka pot latte.

Like espresso, the most alluring aspect of the moka pot is its ability to produce coffee with a golden crema. In principle, this occurs because carbon dioxide in fresh coffee grounds combines with oils and emulsifies under a pressurized vacuum environment, creating a golden, fine crema foam. In other words, to brew coffee with crema, the first requirement is to use freshly roasted coffee beans.

Secondly, the darker the roast level, the more carbon dioxide is stored within the coffee beans. And the fresher the coffee beans, the more carbon dioxide they contain. Conversely, as time passes after roasting is completed, the carbon dioxide and aroma in the coffee beans gradually dissipate, so coffee brewed with a moka pot will not only lack golden crema but also have very weak aroma.

All Front Street Coffee beans are shipped within five days of completing the roast, precisely to ensure everyone can experience the charm and joy brought by freshly roasted coffee beans.

The coffee extracted from a moka pot is characterized by being rich and substantial. Especially when making lattes, it is important to highlight the body and smooth mouthfeel. If light-roasted coffee beans are used, the extracted coffee will exhibit sharp acidity and bitterness due to the high temperature and high concentration. Therefore, we recommend using Front Street classic Italian blend coffee beans or medium-dark roasted Front Street. Queen's Estate SOE coffee beans.

Front Street classic blend is a tribute to the once-popular "Mamba Coffee." It is an Italian-style blend combining Indonesian Mandheling beans and Brazilian beans, carrying the wild aroma of Mandheling and the smooth mouthfeel of Brazilian beans, creating a complementary and harmonious flavor profile. Front Street classic Italian blend adds Robusta to the Mamba recipe, fully enhancing the coffee's crema and making the espresso body stronger. It is suitable for home brewing and latte art.

Front Street. Queen's Estate comes from Brazil, the world's largest coffee-producing region. It undergoes a refined natural process. Because it delivers an intensely rich mixed nut aroma and buttery smoothness, it is roasted to a medium-dark level, making it very suitable for making moka pot latte.

1. Pour purified water into the lower chamber of the moka pot, with the water level about 0.5cm below the pressure relief valve.

2. Choose a grind size slightly coarser than espresso. You can reference the size of the gaps in the filter screen of the basket to ensure coffee particles will not fall through into the lower chamber. Slowly pour the coffee grounds into the basket, gently tap to distribute the coffee grounds evenly, and when the coffee grounds form a small mound, level the coffee surface through distribution.

3. Place the basket into the lower chamber, tighten the upper and lower parts of the moka pot, and place it on an electric ceramic stove over high heat;

4. When the moka pot reaches a certain temperature and makes a distinct "hissing" sound, set the electric ceramic stove to low heat and open the lid of the upper chamber.

5. When half of the coffee has flowed into the upper chamber, turn off the electric ceramic stove. The residual heat and pressure of the moka pot will push the remaining coffee into the upper chamber.

6. Once all the coffee has been extracted into the upper chamber, it is ready to be poured into a cup for tasting. Coffee extracted from a moka pot is very rich and can even produce Crema. After extraction is complete, pour the coffee into a prepared cup. Finally, simply add an appropriate amount of milk, and a delicious moka pot latte is ready!

Moka pot grind size: Although it is a coffee device that produces crema, if you grind as fine as an espresso machine, bitter flavors will be extracted very easily. Therefore, if you want to minimize the extraction of bitter compounds, you can grind to a coarseness similar to fine table salt.

However, many coffee enthusiasts are unsure how to determine the coarseness standard, so FrontStreet Coffee has also compiled coffee grind size standards to share with everyone.

FrontStreet Coffee's grind size coarseness standard sieve pass rates:
Cold brew > pour-over/Siphon 80% > Moka/American drip 75-80% >  Cupping 70-75%  > French press 65-70%.
