First of all, we can tell you that drip bag coffee is a type of black coffee. The coffee beans are ground into powder in advance and placed in a filter bag, and hot water is used to extract the flavor substances from the coffee, thereby obtaining a cup of black coffee, which can be drunk directly or mixed with milk for flavoring. Front Street's drip bag coffee packs are made at 10 grams per pack, and can brew a cup of about 130-150ml of coffee liquid, which is exactly a single-person serving.

Who invented the drip bag?

The earliest drip bag coffee was invented in 1990 by Yamanaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. of Japan. Its design concept originated from the hanging-string tea bag. The inventor hoped to simulate pour-over drip coffee by preparing coffee powder in advance and putting it into a non-woven filter bag. The paper pieces on both sides of the filter bag can suspend the coffee pack in the center of the cup. Because it looks like small ears stuck on both sides of the cup, people call it "drip bag coffee."

Starting in 2002, Japanese people registered drip bag coffee packs as a patent and promoted them for sale on the market. This convenient and neat design quickly became mainstream in the market, and the domestic market was no exception.

To brew a drip bag coffee pack, we only need to prepare a pot of hot water and a cup to easily get a cup of fragrant coffee. After brewing, simply throw away the coffee grounds together with the filter bag, saving many cumbersome steps. With the development of the specialty coffee industry, there are many different types of coffee beans, and they can all be made into drip bags, so there are many choices. Dozens of single-origin coffees on Front Street's bean list can all be made into drip bags to achieve coffee freedom in various scenarios, such as the office, a park, home, and so on.

Advantages and disadvantages of drip bag coffee

Whether in the office, at home, or outdoors, as long as there is hot water and a cup, you can easily get a cup of fragrant coffee, and it also saves many cumbersome steps. With the development of the specialty coffee industry, there are many different types of coffee beans, all of which can be used to make drip bags, so there are many choices.

Compared with pour-over extraction, drip bags require no complicated tools, and the pouring technique, time, and ratio do not need to be controlled as rigorously as with pour-over. You only need to ensure sufficiently hot water and a suitable ratio. But also because of the "casual" operation, the flavor expression of the coffee is often not as rich and varied as pour-over coffee. In addition, because drip bags are ground in advance and put into packaging bags, the aroma is naturally not as full as freshly ground coffee. If stored for too long, more than a few months, it may even develop some woody notes, so Front Street recommends drinking drip bags within one month after receiving them.

Front Street IndonesiaPWNGolden Mandheling Drip Bag Coffee Beans

Mandheling coffee has also attracted attention in the past two years. Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) previously had most of its Mandheling sales distributed in the Shanghai area. Shanghai and Taiwan have quite similar taste preferences, both liking a rich and mellow feel. Previously, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) also encountered a Shanghai customer who kept emphasizing that the Mandheling should be roasted darker than our usual dark roast. Now, gradually, more people recognize Mandheling's unique flavor, and more and more customers come to Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee)'s store to order Mandheling coffee, many of them Guangzhou locals.

This Front Street PWN Golden Mandheling is actually different from ordinary Mandheling. It comes from the local Indonesian green bean trader PWN, the first company to cooperate with Japan on Golden Mandheling and to register Golden Mandheling as a trademark. The biggest feature of Front Street PWN Golden Mandheling is that it does not have the off-flavors of ordinary Mandheling. After three strict manual selections, the bean size is ensured to be uniform, so it can color evenly during roasting. Therefore, its taste presents a clean, mellow feel, and the flavor is very much like Guangdong herbal tea. It is not surprising that Guangzhou locals can accept this flavor. Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) specially made Front Street PWN Golden Mandheling drip bags this time, also because we found that people's acceptance is getting higher and higher.

Front Street Brazil Cerrado Red Fruit Drip Bag Coffee Beans

Brazilian coffee beans were introduced from French Guiana (a country in northern South America) in 1720. Brazil was a Portuguese colony at the time, while many other South American countries were Spanish colonies. Therefore, most countries in South America speak Spanish, while Brazil speaks Portuguese.

In order to introduce Guiana's coffee beans to Brazil (at that time, the outflow of coffee to other countries was strictly prohibited), a Portuguese military officer stationed in Brazil won the heart of the governor's wife of Guiana and successfully brought coffee seeds into Brazil. Since then, coffee adapted rapidly in Brazil, spreading from the north to the southeastern state of São Paulo. By 1845, Brazilian coffee beans already accounted for 45% of the world's total coffee beans. Currently, Brazil is the world's largest coffee exporting country.

Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) not only includes Brazil in its drip bag series, but Brazilian coffee can also be found in Front Street's everyday beans coffee series. This shows that Brazil, as a coffee-producing country, is an indispensable presence in classic coffee flavors. Front Street everyday beans are the "face" of regional coffee beans, because the basic regional flavor is more recognizable, and they are also low-priced, high-value coffee beans.

Front Street Yunnan Small Bean Drip Bag Coffee Beans

Yunnan coffee mainly cultivates Typica and Catimor varieties. Because the coffee beans are small, it is also called "small bean coffee." The main variety planted is Catimor, which is a hybrid. The Portuguese crossed Timor and Caturra to improve disease resistance and yield. Catimor does not have pure Arabica lineage, because Timor is a Robusta variety. Although it was crossed with Caturra, it did not inherit Arabica genes, so its flavor is relatively flat, with a more prominent bitterness.

On the palate, it shows a relatively round acidity, with a nutty feeling, and the sweetness in the aftertaste is obvious, with a long, sweet caramel finish.
