According to Jiupai News, a harrowing scene recently unfolded at a Guming store in Guangdong.
Video clips circulating online show that around noon on the 24th, a man who was completely naked and holding a knife suddenly rushed into a normally operating milk tea shop. The man initially walked toward the ordering counter, then sat down on a seat inside the store. Since many customers were waiting to pick up their orders in the public area at the time, after witnessing this highly shocking scene, some quickly fled through a side door, while other shaken customers hid in the back kitchen under the guidance of the employees.
Immediately after, the man walked behind the counter. One employee calmly continued making drinks, while another employee stayed right beside the man, constantly communicating and negotiating with him, trying to persuade him to put down the knife, but the man never yielded. During this time, several customers hiding in the back kitchen took advantage of his distraction and quickly evacuated the scene.
After lingering at the counter for a while, the man turned and walked toward the back kitchen, with the employee still persisting in talking to him. Just at the moment when the man momentarily let his guard down and placed the knife on the ground, the employee facing off against him was quick-eyed and quick-handed, kicking the knife far away, then swiftly grabbing the man from behind and dragging the struggling man all the way from the back kitchen out of the store.
The remaining store employees, concerned citizens nearby, and police officers who arrived quickly after receiving the alarm all coordinated together, ultimately successfully subduing the knife-wielding man. The man was subsequently taken away by police, and no one was injured throughout the entire incident.
After the video spread online, netizens who learned of the incident couldn't help but speculate whether the man suffered from mental or psychological illness, which would explain why he suddenly made such a horrifying move. At the same time, many onlookers expressed high praise for the four employees in the store who dared to face the knife-wielding man directly and protect other customers.
Many users praised the Guming employees in the video on social media and believed the brand should show recognition for these courageous employees, saying things like "Good employees!" "They should be rewarded" "They deserve a big reward" "Oh my god, so brave."
So on May 26, Guming officially released an internal operations notice titled "Commendation Notice Regarding Four Store Partners in Guangdong," briefly describing the events of the sudden incident at the Guangdong store and praising the store partners for their calm response, decisive action, and resolution of the crisis, which ensured the safety of store customers.
To this end, the company decided to award these four employees the title of "Guming Tea Beverage Advanced Individual in Courageous Acts," with a 5,000 yuan bonus for the employee who subdued the knife-wielding man and 1,000 yuan each for the other three employees.
In addition, the notice reminded all store staff that when emergencies occur in the store, they must remember that safety comes first, call the police first, and during the process of waiting for police officers to arrive and handle the situation, prioritize ensuring the personal safety of themselves and store customers, and avoid physical confrontation as much as possible.
