Beyond the Mixue Bingcheng Dispute: What Coffee Is Really Made Of
The recent dispute at a Mixue Bingcheng store in Shenyang has drawn attention to how drinks are made and served. A customer ordered three drinks in advance but arrived late after going to the wrong store. The employee refused to hand over the prepared drinks, and the argument escalated. The employee was later fired and compensated the customer. The case raises questions about fresh-made beverages and customer expectations.
Coffee and similar drinks start with basic ingredients. Coffee is made from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of coffee cherries. These beans are ground and brewed with hot water. Other drinks, like those at Mixue Bingcheng, may use tea, milk, sugar, and flavorings. Understanding what goes into a drink helps explain why some items are made fresh to order and cannot sit for long.
Recently, a Mixue Bingcheng store in Shenyang made trending news after a dispute broke out between an employee and a customer. According to Xiaoxiang Morning News, a woman ordered three drinks in advance but was more than ten minutes late picking them up after going to the wrong store. When she arrived at the correct store, she was unable to get the drinks that had already been made, and a verbal altercation soon erupted with a male employee, who even said things like "Eat it if you want, get lost if you don't." After video of the incident surfaced, it sparked widespread discussion among netizens. Some criticized the employee's poor service attitude, while others pointed out that there is a reasonable basis for making iced drinks fresh to order, and even more people believed that responsibility on both sides needed to be judged based on the full sequence of events. At present, the employee involved has been fired by the store and has compensated the customer.

According to Xiaoxiang Morning News, a woman in Shenyang recently posted a video on social media, reporting that an employee at a local Mixue Bingcheng store had an extremely poor service attitude.
In her post, the woman explained that she had originally planned to pick up the drinks immediately upon arriving at the store, so she placed an order in advance for three cups. Unfortunately, she went to the wrong store along the way, and by the time she reached the correct one, more than ten minutes had passed. She assumed the drinks had long since been made, so she gave the employee her pickup code. After verifying it, the other party simply continued with whatever was at hand, neither explaining whether she needed to wait nor handing over the drinks that had already been prepared.
Unable to get the drinks after such a long wait, the customer was naturally unhappy, and then got into an argument on the spot with a male employee wearing a Mixue Bingcheng uniform. From the footage recorded by the customer, the male employee can be clearly heard shouting at her, "Eat it if you want, get lost if you don't." When the customer said, "Then refund it, refund it, refund it," the male employee shot back: "Just refund it online. I already told you, we can't make it for you if you don't come to the store. You just have to keep arguing with us..."
The customer admitted in the online post that her tone at the time did carry impatience and anger, but she had not said anything out of line. Yet the male employee directly told her to "get lost." What she found even more absurd was this: "He took a bag of the things I ordered out of the cabinet and shoved it at me. It had clearly already been made, so why wouldn't he give it to me? What kind of logic is that?"
After the video was posted, it quickly drew netizens' attention. Many people said after watching the clip that the employee's behavior was truly infuriating.
However, some netizens also noticed that everything the customer bought was an iced drink, and therefore pointed out that some beverage shops do wait until customers arrive to confirm before starting to make certain drinks in order to preserve the taste. In addition, since the woman ordered all cold drinks, and given the hot weather, it was not entirely unreasonable for the employee to worry that the customer might not pick them up in time and affect quality, and thus deliberately wait until she arrived before making them.

But more people felt that this video was filmed only after the conflict between the two sides had already erupted, and did not show the full context of what led up to it. Based only on a few lines of dialogue in the footage, it is hard to determine who was right and who was wrong. Still, many stressed that no matter what, as someone working in the service industry, the male employee's words to the customer in the video, "Eat it if you want, get lost if you don't," were ultimately inappropriate.
Regarding this controversy, a Xiaoxiang Morning News reporter contacted an employee at the store involved yesterday. The person said the specific details were not convenient to explain for the time being, but clearly responded: "The employee involved has been fired by us, and compensation has already been paid." In addition, when the reporter called Mixue Bingcheng's official customer service hotline, an employee said the relevant situation had been recorded and would be forwarded to the relevant department for follow-up.
