Coffee Press Release: Mixue Bingcheng Sink Incident Draws Food Safety Scrutiny

A video showing a Mixue Bingcheng employee rinsing his bare foot in a store sink spread quickly online, prompting a heated response. The chain said the worker had scalded his foot at work and used cold water as emergency treatment, and that the store was closed for disinfection and retraining. Many viewers questioned that account, noting the employee's unhurried movements did not resemble a scald injury.

The footage showed the man in a black uniform removing a shoe and sock and placing his foot in the sink inside the counter area, with a sock resting beside a milk tea bucket and drink cups bearing the brand logo nearby. A colleague continued making drinks. The incident has renewed public attention to food safety and hygiene standards at beverage chains.

Recently, a video of a Mixue Bingcheng employee washing his feet in a store sink spread rapidly online, sparking widespread attention. In the video, a man in a black work uniform is rinsing his feet in a sink inside the counter area, with milk tea buckets and operating tools placed nearby—a shocking sight. Mixue Bingcheng later responded that the employee had scalded his foot at work and used cold water for emergency treatment, and that the store involved had been ordered to close for disinfection and undergo rectification training. However, some netizens questioned the official explanation, saying the man's movements seemed unhurried and did not look like a scald injury. Yesterday, a netizen uploaded a video on social media showing an employee in uniform at a Mixue Bingcheng store taking off his shoes and socks and directly putting his foot into the sink inside the counter to rinse it. The video caption expressed strong shock.

This morning, the two hashtags #MixueBingchengEmployeeCaughtWashingFeetInSink# and #MixueBingchengCustomerServiceRespondsToEmployeeWashingFeetInSink# quickly topped the trending lists on major social platforms, triggering a large amount of discussion.

In the video, a man wearing a black work uniform and a black hat stands on one foot in front of the store sink, takes off the shoe and sock from his other foot, and puts that foot into the sink to rinse it. It can be clearly seen that the shoe the man removed is placed on the floor, while the sock is set on one side of the preparation counter, right next to a milk tea bucket.

The man then lifts his foot, places it on the counter beside the sink to inspect it with his hand, and afterward puts his shoe back on. On the cup rack by the sink, drink cups are printed with the Mixue Bingcheng brand logo and "Snow King" decorations, and various kitchen tools for handling ingredients are placed around. A staff member next to him is still making drinks as usual.

According to Southern Metropolis Daily, on June 11, in response to the circulated video, a Mixue Bingcheng staff member said the incident occurred at a store in the Beijing area, and the person washing his feet in the video is the father of the store manager and also works at the store. Because his foot was scalded at work, he used cold water for emergency treatment, which led to the behavior shown in the video.

The staff member said Mixue Bingcheng had ordered the store involved to close and carry out comprehensive disinfection. At the same time, standardized training and rectification had been carried out for all store employees.

In response, many netizens said they could understand, but still found it hard to accept from a hygiene standpoint. If the man really was scalded, emergency treatment of the injury is understandable, but food safety and hygiene in the food service industry are equally important and should both be taken seriously.

Some netizens also raised doubts, believing the man's series of movements was too "unhurried," and that he could put his shoe back on immediately after washing his feet, making it feel "not like he had been scalded."

Regarding the brand customer service response, the video poster also said she could not agree. She said that when buying drinks, she did not see any sign that the older man had been scalded; instead, he naturally walked to the sink and took off his shoe to wash his feet without any attempt to avoid being seen.

Moreover, she herself was standing only about one meter away, and many customers nearby were drinking the products; it was a place everyone could see. If it really was as the official statement said, that the man had no choice but to wash his feet in the sink because of a scald, she hoped the corresponding back-end surveillance video could be retrieved, verified, and released, since that area is also within the range visible to the store's surveillance cameras.

As of press time, Mixue Bing cheng had not yet made a related response .
