Does the Ice Eye B75 Dripper Suit Light Green Bean Coffee?
The Ice Eye B75 is a flat-bottom dripper co-designed by Li Jinlong and Timemore in 2022, named for the word Basket and its 75-degree wall angle. Its 5 cm drainage hole, ten supporting ridges and 0.5 cm walls keep the coffee bed cylindrical and insulated, so water drains smoothly and evenly through the grounds.
In testing with Ethiopian 74158 Santavini, hot brewing finished in 2 minutes 09 seconds with dried mango, strawberry and black tea notes and strong sweetness; iced brewing with green geisha coffee beans gave a balanced juice-like mix of honey, cream and mandarin. The wide hole also helps beginners who struggle with flow control.
Front Street Coffee has previously introduced the conical Ice Eye dripper with a grooved design, and today we bring you its junior sibling—the Ice Eye B75. This flat-bottom dripper, co-designed by Li Jinlong and Timemore in 2022, gets its name from "Basket" and its 75° angle. It features a 5cm oversized drainage hole and thick-walled insulation, making the coffee bed more cylindrical, allowing for smooth and even drainage. Front Street tested it with Ethiopian 74158 Santavini and Emerald Green Label Geisha for hot and iced brewing respectively: during hot brewing, the B75 maintained a stable flow throughout, completing extraction in 2 minutes 09 seconds, with prominent flavors of dried mango, strawberry, and black tea, and extremely strong sweetness; the iced brew presented a balanced juice-like feel of honey, cream, and mandarin. The B75 is also very friendly to beginners who are not skilled at flow control, making it a powerful tool for amplifying the advantages of sweet beans.

Last month, Front Street shared with everyone a conical Ice Eye dripper that captured the hearts of many aesthetics enthusiasts. Its grooved structure allows the filter paper to fit perfectly, and the brewed coffee has a satisfying body. Today we're going to talk about its junior sibling—the Ice Eye B75 dripper.
The Ice Eye B75 is a dripper co-designed by Li Jinlong and Timemore, launched in 2022, with the original intention of presenting coffee's "sweet and clean" characteristics while using simpler operation to achieve consistent output. The English for flat-bottom dripper is "Basket," and with the 75° inclination of the body, it was named "B75."
The Ice Eye B75 that Front Street purchased is made of resin, lightweight to hold, with a transparent and well-proportioned body, and its looks are equally impressive.

The bottom of the Ice Eye B75 differs from common flat-bottom drippers. In the center is a large 5cm drainage hole, surrounded by 10 staggered ridges to support the filter paper, preventing it from slipping during pouring. Apart from the ridges, the rest of the bottom area is entirely open, further accelerating the flow of coffee liquid.
The wall thickness reaches 0.5cm, providing better insulation for the coffee bed and improving extraction efficiency. The rim and bottom form a 75° angle, making it more vertical than most drippers, and the coffee grounds layer in the cup is closer to a "cylinder" shape.
The edge of the body also features 20 vertical inner concave guide grooves, shortening the water flow path and making drainage smoother. When used with cake filter paper, the thick coffee bed allows every coffee ground to evenly contact hot water, improving overall extraction consistency.
To understand the extraction performance of the Ice Eye B75 and compare it with the conical Ice Eye, Front Street selected Ethiopian 74158 Santavini, brewing with the same parameters separately, then comparing the taste.
Coffee beans: 15g Coffee-to-water ratio: 1:15 Water temperature: 92℃ Grind size: EK43s setting 9.5 (82% passing through No. 20 standard sieve)
Three-pour method: 30g bloom for 30 seconds , second pour: circle from inside out with 85g hot water , wait until the liquid level drops to 1/3 of the coffee bed, about 1 minute 5 seconds to 1 minute 10 seconds, then pour all the remaining 110g water.
Conical Ice Eye dripper : The coffee liquid flowed faster in the first and middle stages, slowing down in the latter stage, with a total drip time of 2 minutes 15 seconds. The coffee mainly featured flavors of tropical fruit, raspberry, and light floral notes. At lower temperatures, it presented bright citric acidity, a light texture, and full fruity acidity. After the coffee cooled, it tasted more tea-like, with average aroma and a slightly muddy mouthfeel.
Ice Eye B75 dripper : The coffee liquid flowed smoothly and steadily throughout, finishing dripping in 2 minutes 09 seconds. The coffee entered with aromas of dried mango, strawberry, and black tea, with very prominent sweetness. As the temperature dropped slightly, a distinct orange-like juice feel emerged, with a shorter finish. Even when the coffee completely cooled, the fruity flavor remained prominent, with almost no bitterness, making for a very pleasant taste experience.

Compared to the conical dripper, the B75's larger aperture brings faster flow, making over-extraction less likely, so you can grind finer to increase extraction yield, releasing more quality flavors. Based on the comparison above, Front Street believes that giving beans with prominent sweetness to the Ice Eye B75 can maximize its strengths.
Additionally, during brewing tests, Front Street also noticed that the B75's flat bottom and 75° angle make the coffee bed thinner, with a shape leaning toward a trapezoid that is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. The water level always remains horizontal, less affected by technique. In other words, even if the water flow cannot be evenly distributed, it can still participate in extraction. This characteristic is quite friendly to beginners who are not yet skilled at flow control, making it easier to get started.
Finally, Front Street wanted to try an iced brewing method for the B75 dripper , and also considering that Li Jinlong selected and designed this dripper for the purpose of better presenting coffee's cleanliness and sweet ness, so let's choose another washed coffee bean: Emerald Green Label Geisha.
Coffee beans: 15g Coffee-to-water ratio: 1:15 Water temperature: 92℃ Grind size: EK43s setting 9 (85% passing through No. 20 standard sieve) Three-pour method: 30g, 70g, 50g
The washed Green Label Geisha iced hand brew extracted with the Ice Eye B75 dripper enters with aromas of honey, cream, and mandarin. The taste is like iced yuzu green tea. Although the layers are not as rich as hot hand brew, the juice feel is very balanced, making you want to keep drinking.
