Nowadays, almost every office worker has a variety of coffee on their desk to stay alert—some instant, some freshly ground, some ordered for delivery—and some people, considering they don't have a grinder but want to enjoy delicious specialty coffee, choose to buy pre-made drip bags.

Are drip bags considered black coffee? How do you brew a drip bag coffee?

The birth of drip bag coffee comes from pour-over; it's simply pre-ground coffee sealed in a bag. When brewing, you tear open the packet, pour in a certain ratio of hot water, and extract it into black coffee.

First tear open the outer packet and take out the drip bag. Along the "OPEN" mark on the drip bag, tear off the sealing strip.

Pour in hot water until the coffee grounds are completely saturated, and let it bloom for 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds, continue pouring hot water in a circular motion until the coffee-to-water ratio reaches 1:15, then stop pouring. Wait for the coffee liquid to finish dripping, then remove the drip bag and discard it.

How do you choose fresh drip bag coffee?

1. Check the roast date. Drip bag coffee usually has a roast date printed on the back. If the date is within 10 days, it means it's still fresh and has a relatively long peak-flavor window. If the date is more than 30 days old, it means the drip bag coffee has already started to become stale, and the flavor is gradually fading.

2. Judge by the brewing state. Because coffee beans produce a large amount of gas during roasting, it is released when they meet hot water. If bubbles appear on the coffee bed during brewing, it means it's still fresh. If there are no bubbles at all, the drip bag coffee may have been sitting for a while.

3. Taste the flavor. Fresh drip bag coffee has a rich aroma. If it has been left for a long time, the flavor will slowly dissipate and may even begin to develop woody and rancid notes.
