Since cold brew coffee has a different production process from conventional hot-brewed coffee and needs to be made a day in advance, the cold brew sold at Front Street stores does not offer as rich a selection of coffee beans to choose from as pour-over does.
But precisely because of this, when making cold brew, Front Street carefully selects coffee beans that are more suitable for cold brew and have a flavor profile with broad appeal, so that customers can get a relatively outstanding experience from the limited choices available.

And because these cold brews really suit most people's taste, friends often quietly ask Front Street after finishing them about the ingredients and recipe used to make the cold brew, so they can recreate the same deliciousness at home.
Although Front Street just shared a general approach to bean selection a couple of days ago, many friends have been messaging us privately asking for a more detailed recommendation of beans for cold brew. Because, as mentioned earlier, cold brew coffee is made differently from hot-brewed coffee, so the coffee made from the same coffee bean will be very different in style from conventional hot-brewed coffee.

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee
Cold brew coffee is a very easy method to master. We use Front Street Coffee Strawberry Candy coffee beans, weigh out 50 grams, and grind them into powder. For the coffee powder grind size, use a No. 20 standard sieve with a passing rate of 85%.

Put the coffee powder into a glass bottle, then add 400 ml of room-temperature water and 200 g of hard ice cubes (totaling 600 g of ice-water mixture) to the bottle, with a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:12. Then use a stirring rod to stir the coffee powder and water evenly, seal it, and place it in the refrigerator.

After leaving it in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours, use filter paper to filter out the coffee grounds and obtain clean coffee liquid. Then pour the coffee liquid into a clean sealed bottle and refrigerate it for about another 4 hours before drinking.

The main characteristics of cold brew coffee are that it is not bitter, has weak acidity, a soft flavor, and at the same time carries the fermented sensation produced by "low-temperature aging." Besides drinking it directly, Front Street has also tried pairing cold brew with different drinks to make signature coffee. Cold brew + sparkling water has a refreshing mouthfeel, cold brew + fruit juice is pleasantly sweet and tart, and cold brew + fresh milk is mellow and balanced. All are good choices.

When Front Street makes this type of low-temperature extracted coffee, it prioritizes beans with floral and fruity flavors. For those who like floral notes, we recommend buying Front Street Huakui Coffee, Front Street Red Cherry Coffee, and Front Street Fruit Ding Ding Coffee. If you prefer a more obvious juicy taste, we suggest choosing beans with rich fruity tones such as Front Street Strawberry Candy Coffee, Front Street Little Tomato Coffee, and Front Street Mozart Coffee. All of the above can be ordered from the Front Street Tmall flagship store or the Front Street Taobao store.
