Drip bag coffee requires no complicated tools, nor does it demand particular pouring techniques, timing, or ratios—no need for the strict control that hand brewing calls for. Just make sure you have sufficiently hot water and a suitable ratio. Convenience is the biggest advantage of drip bag coffee.

But it's also because of this "casual" approach that the flavor of the coffee often isn't as rich and varied as hand-brewed coffee. On top of that, since drip bags are pre-ground and sealed in packaging, the aroma isn't as full as freshly ground coffee. If stored too long—over several months—it may develop some woody notes.

To preserve as much of the coffee's original flavor as possible, Front Street drip bag coffee is made from freshly roasted coffee beans that are ground on demand. All coffee beans shipped by Front Street are freshly roasted within 5 days. If made into drip bag coffee, by the time you receive it, it's usually 4–5 days after roasting, so you can brew and enjoy it right away. Front Street recommends drinking it as soon as possible after receiving it, as prolonged storage tends to cause the coffee's aroma to fade. If you want to taste coffee at its fullest flavor, Front Street suggests buying whole beans and grinding fresh for each brew—the flavor layers are even better.

Drip Bag Coffee Buying Guide

You should know that a good cup of coffee starts with good beans. Here, Front Street has put together a short list of coffee types suitable for most people to choose from: For those who love floral notes, we recommend Front Street Panama Geisha drip bag coffee—one of the most expensive coffees in the world; for those who enjoy a fresh, slightly acidic coffee, we recommend Front Street Flower Queen drip bag coffee, which has notes reminiscent of black tea and berries;

For those who prefer a balanced taste—coffee that's neither sour nor bitter—we recommend Front Street Brazil drip bag coffee; and finally, for those who favor a solid, full-bodied mouthfeel, we suggest buying the highest-grade Front Street Golden Mandheling drip bag coffee. These beans undergo multiple rounds of hand sorting, minimizing the defect rate and resulting in clearer coffee aroma and better sweetness. All the drip bag coffees above can be purchased at Front Street stores and the Front Street Tmall flagship store.

Before brewing, boil water first and prepare a cup or small pot for the coffee. Tear open the sealed packaging, take out the coffee drip bag, and tear open the non-woven pouch along the dotted line. Then pull apart the two "ears," open up the entire drip bag, and hang them on the rim of the cup or sharing pot.

First, pour in a small amount of hot water for the first pour to wet all the coffee grounds, and let it bloom for about1020seconds to help release the gases in the coffee grounds, so that the later extraction is more stable. For the second pour, pour steadily in a thin stream until the liquid level is nearly full, then wait for the coffee liquid to drop until it has all drained through. Pour in the final pour of water until full. The total amount of water poured is about150grams. Wait until all the coffee liquid has dripped through, and the extraction is complete.
