Coffee Street Noise: Mixue Night Music Complaints

In Liaoning, Henan, and other places, Mixue Bingcheng stores were reported to have left their speakers on after closing and played the brand's theme song all night, forcing upstairs residents to listen for hours. Some neighbors called the police to complain, while others joked the late-night loop felt like a horror film scene.

Tea beverage brands cluster densely on many commercial streets, and Mixue's repetitive jingle is one of the most recognizable sounds for passersby, which makes the overnight playback more noticeable. Whether the cause was employee negligence or an equipment fault, the incidents raised the question of how the brand should prevent similar noise disturbances, much as a coffee street handles sound and late-hour operations.

On the streets of many cities, it is no longer news that tea beverage brands cluster densely together, and Mixue Bingcheng, with its catchy theme song, has almost become the most noticeable presence to passersby. However, when this cheerful melody continues to play in a store after it has closed late at night, the mood shifts from amusing to eerie. Recently, in Liaoning, Henan, and other places, cases have emerged one after another of Mixue stores not turning off their speakers after closing and playing music all night, forcing upstairs residents to listen for an entire night. Some called the police to complain, while others joked that it was like a scene from a horror film. Was it employee negligence or an equipment malfunction? And how should the brand prevent similar noise disturbances from happening again? This article walks you through what happened and the heated discussion online.

Walking through the commercial districts of some cities today, it is already commonplace for tea beverage brands to be densely laid out, and the saying "a milk tea shop every ten steps" is not an exaggeration. Among the many brands, if people were asked which one is easiest for passersby to recognize instantly, many would probably vote for Mixue Bingcheng.

Most people generally report that as long as you pass by a Mixue store, you can hear the looping playback from the speakers of "I love you, you love me, Mixue Bingcheng sweet honey." The melody is familiar and the lyrics are straightforward and easy to remember, making it very easy to grab pedestrians' attention and make them unconsciously slow down and take a few extra looks at this milk tea shop playing its earworm theme song.

But if you are walking down the street late at night and suddenly hear the Mixue Bingcheng theme song, to some people this scene is not amusing at all. Instead, it seems somewhat creepy.

Recently, a netizen in Liaoning discovered that a Mixue store near their residence was still emitting clear music from behind the glass door after business hours had ended. This unusual situation surprised the passerby, so they filmed the scene and captioned it, "Mixue, you forgot to turn off your speakers."

After this short video was posted on social platforms, it quickly attracted the attention of many Mixue Bingcheng stores across the country, which checked one after another whether their own stores had experienced similar situations. Onlookers drawn by the video did not hide their amusement in the comments, joking that perhaps after the employees got off work, the mascot Snow King held a carnival party in the store, leading a group of little snowmen in dancing on the bar counter.

Some netizens also said that when the store's employees came to work the next day and heard the singing coming from inside, they would probably blurt out, "I don't dare open my eyes, I hope it's my hallucination." Others worried on behalf of the store manager, thinking that the speakers running all night would not only raise that month's electricity bill but might also invite a pile of complaints. After all, an upstairs resident who saw the video reported that they had been forced to listen to cheerful songs all night and were so disturbed that they could not sleep well at all.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Mixue workers have forgotten to turn off the speakers when closing. Previously, residents discovered that a Mixue store downstairs from them was still playing music late at night that disturbed their sleep, so they called the police to complain about the noise. Recently, another Mixue Bingcheng store in Henan experienced the same situation. In the already closed store, the speakers that employees had not turned off ran all night, prompting a passerby to remark that the scene was quite like something out of a horror movie.

In response, some netizens believe that the reason such situations occur at Mixue stores may be that workers who have long worked amid music became momentarily dazed and forgot to turn off the store's equipment before leaving; it is also possible that the store's speaker equipment malfunctioned after aging and started up on its own after closing without warning.

Although these situations are unintentional mistakes by the stores, for nearby residents, the speakers working all night in the stores truly cause serious disturbance. Many people think the brand should take this situation seriously, have staff turn off the speakers earlier, or switch to speaker equipment that can be set to turn off automatically, so that singing does not still come from the store after closing and disturb surrounding residents.
