Whether using a V60 dripper or a Clever Dripper to brew coffee, both belong to the category of pour-over coffee. Pour-over coffee is defined as pouring hot water over coffee grounds to dissolve them in water, and the extracted liquid drips out freely through a paper filter or mesh filter.

Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) believes that the charm of pour-over coffee lies in its clean taste and its ability to fully extract the aroma and sweetness of the coffee while effectively controlling the over-release of bitter compounds.
Features of the V60 Coffee Dripper
V60 refers to the coffee dripper's 60-degree angle, and the spiral rib design on the wall effectively regulates the water flow evenly through the coffee bed.

The dripper's design focuses on the speed at which the water level drops, allowing coffee particles to achieve better extraction with a relatively fast flow rate. The internal ribs use a curved spiral structure design, extending from the bottom to the top to help accelerate the water flow, indicating smooth air release. The curved ribs increase the water flow path, extending the contact time between coffee particles and water.
Coffee brewed with the V60 dripper has a clean taste with rich layers.
Features of the Clever Dripper?
The so-called "Clever Dripper" is a funnel with a valve embedded at the bottom, which, unlike the V60 dripper, is not affected by factors such as pouring flow rate when brewing coffee. Before the piston is opened, the Clever Dripper can achieve an immersion effect, extracting more fully the substances in the coffee.
Although it also uses immersion extraction, it differs from the French press.Clever DripperAfter the extraction process is complete, the coffee oils and fine particles in the coffee liquid first pass through the paper filter before flowing out through the opened valve. The taste is cleaner and more layered than the French press, which uses a metal mesh to "filter out grounds."

Clever Drippercombines the advantages of the French press and conical/cylindrical coffee drippers. It is simple, convenient, and easy to use. It extracts by immersion and actually doesn't require much skill. If you find it difficult to master a steady pour at the moment and can't tolerate the fine particles from a French press, then the Clever Dripper is a choice that is easy to operate and also balances flavor.
There is a piston at the bottom of the cup, which normally sits in a lowered position (with four feet underneath keeping it suspended). After water is poured in, it seals under pressure, and the piston firmly blocks the water flow. When placed on a container, the piston below is pushed up, and the coffee flows out.

Coffee brewed with the Clever Dripper has a clean taste and is overall fuller-bodied than with the V60 dripper.
Which dripper is more recommended for coffee beginners?
In this case, we need to first consider our own needs ~ If you want a richer layering and also want to learn more pour-over techniques, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) recommends choosing the V60 dripper; if you want stable, full-bodied coffee and find it difficult to control the pour, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) recommends choosing the Clever Dripper.

V60What is the difference from coffee brewed with the Clever Dripper?
First, choosing freshly roasted coffee beans is essential for better aroma and flavor. Currently, all coffee beans sold by Front Street are shipped 5 days after roasting is completed, and the optimal tasting period is 5-35 days after the roast date printed on the back label.
Both coffee drippers use the same water temperature, coffee grind size, and coffee-to-water ratio. Taking the [Costa Rica Mozart Coffee Beans] sold by Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) as an example, it is recommended to use a medium-fine grind (fine sugar size / 80% passing rate through China No. 20 standard sieve), 90-91°C water temperature, and a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio (i.e., 1g coffee grounds to 15g water). This time Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) will use 15g of coffee grounds for the brewing demonstration.

The steps for brewing coffee with the Clever Dripper are as follows: Fold the filter paper and place it in the Clever Dripper, put the Clever Dripper on a container, and rinse the filter paper with hot water to preheat the equipment at the same time. Then move the Clever Dripper to the electronic scale (the valve will automatically close at this point), and pour the ground coffee into the center of the dripper.
For the first pour, add 30g of hot water, start the timer, and bloom for 30 seconds; after blooming, pour hot water until 225g, then steep for 1'50". After steeping is complete, move the Clever Dripper onto a container to open the valve and filter out the coffee liquid in the dripper. The whole process takes about 15 seconds, and the total extraction time is 2'05".

Brewing Mozart coffee with the Clever Dripper shows a full-bodied sweetness of dried grapes, rich berry-like sweet acidity, and a pineapple-like finish.
The steps for brewing with the V60 dripper are as follows: Fold the filter paper and place it in the dripper, then place it on the coffee pot, and then rinse the filter paper with hot water to preheat the equipment at the same time. Then pour out the hot water from the pot and pour the ground coffee into the center of the dripper.

Use 30g of water to fully wet the coffee bed into a "hamburger" shape and bloom for 30s, then proceed to the second pour; for the second pour, Front Street used a steady medium-fine stream poured in circles up to 125g and then stopped, waiting for the water level to drop to 2/3 of the coffee bed before pouring the third stage; for the third stage, continue using a medium-fine stream poured in circles up to 225g and end the pour. The total extraction time is about 2'00".
