The emergence of drip bag coffee is undoubtedly a blessing for enthusiasts who love specialty coffee but don't want to buy all the equipment for pour-over brewing. The rise of drip bag coffee has faced skepticism from many, who say it's not professional. Front Street believes there's no need to belittle the emergence of drip bag coffee—after all, for a delicacy to integrate into the masses, faster and more convenient methods are needed.
To meet everyone's needs, Front Street has launched drip bag coffee packs from select origins, catering to each person's taste preferences. There's Honduras Sherry with barrel fermentation, Panama Washed Butterfly, Ethiopia Candlelight, Yunnan Huaguoshan, Ethiopia Natural Red Cherry, Brazil Queen's Estate, and Golden Mandheling. Of course, you can also tell Front Street the beans you want, and we'll process them into drip bags. Next, let's talk about the flavor performance of the seven drip bags just mentioned.

The Invention of Drip Bag Coffee
In 1990, Japan's Yamanaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. applied the concept of tea bags to coffee, inventing the drip filter coffee and applying for a patent. However, the drip bag coffee designed by Yamanaka Sangyodrip bag coffeecould not bear the weight of the brewing coffee and easily lost balance during the brewing process, so it was not successfully commercialized. It wasn't until 1998 that Daiki Shoji improved the original invention by extending the hanging ears outward, leading to today'sdrip bag coffee.
drip bag coffeebag market
drip bag coffeeis called Instant drip coffee bag in English. It has the advantages of instant coffee—fast, convenient, and no brewing equipment needed—while also allowing people to enjoy the fun of pour-over. Combining the advantages of both instant coffee and pour-over coffee, drip bag coffee has grown rapidly in the East Asian market. In 2011,drip bag coffeeglobal sales reached 1.4 billion bags, approximately 11,200 metric tons, with 94% of sales coming from Japan. Starbucks Japan even specially launched drip bag coffee for this market. Although the total global sales of drip bag coffee are currently not large and the market size is relatively small, the growth rate is very fast.

In the past, in China's brewed coffee market, instant coffee once had a market share as high as 70%, while drip bag coffee was only 10%. However, in recent years, due to food safety scandals causing consumer anxiety, coupled with the rise of specialty coffee culture, coffee consumers' demands are no longer just about staying awake. Drip bag coffee combines quality and convenience, exactly meeting consumer needs. Therefore, in 2017, China's drip bag coffee growth rate reached as high as 30%.
【Front Street Coffee Honduras Sherry Coffee】
From Masaguara, a city in the Intibucá department in the southwest, whiskey barrel fermentation involves washing the coffee beans and then placing them in oak barrels that previously held whiskey to ferment, allowing the beans to absorb the aroma of whiskey. Front Street's Sherry coffee beans are among Front Street's best-selling coffee beans. The flavor of Sherry coffee beans tends toward the taste of whiskey sherry, with rich vanilla cream and a lingering nutty chocolate flavor in the aftertaste.
【Front Street Coffee Panama Butterfly】
This Panama Butterfly has 70% premium Geisha lineage, along with Catuai and Caturra, planted in the Baru Volcano region of Boquete, growing at an altitude of 1,600 meters in a volcanic area. The local special microclimate results in abundant rainfall in this region, with large temperature differences between day and night, as well as meticulous harvesting and fine processing, making this coffee outstanding in body, acidity, and floral notes. Excellent quality at an accessible price allows everyone to experience the flavor of Panama Geisha coffee at a high cost-performance ratio.

【Front Street Ethiopia Natural Huakui】
In coffee shops, "Huakui" refers to a natural coffee bean from the Sidamo Hambela region of Ethiopia, with the full English name "Ethiopia Guji Hambella Buku Abel." Broadly speaking, it's a champion bean from Ethiopia; specifically, it's a specialty natural batch processed and produced by the Buku Abel processing station in the Hambela region. Huakui possesses the unique ripe tropical fruit flavor of Sidamo natural beans, often leaving a deep impression, and it was this rich berry aroma that won "Huakui" first place in that year's TOH green bean competition.
【Front Street Coffee Yunnan Huaguoshan】
Front Street Coffee's Yunnan Huaguoshan coffee beans are grown from the Typica variety. Yunnan Typica is labeled as Yunnan specialty coffee, while Yunnan Catimor is labeled as Yunnan small-batch coffee according to market conventions. Because Yunnan's producing regions are not acidic regions, their flavors are relatively balanced, with nutty and brown sugar notes as the base. Front Street's roasters use a medium roast to showcase Yunnan coffee's balance, nutty and brown sugar sweetness, and soft fruit acidity.

【Front Street Coffee Ethiopia Natural Red Cherry】
Ethiopia's Natural Red Cherry coffee emphasizes the use of fully ripe fruit to obtain ripe fruit flavors. The ripe coffee cherries undergo natural processing, where the whole fruit is directly placed on raised beds to dry after harvest. During the drying process, the sugars from the pulp and mucilage transfer to the innermost core (coffee bean). Therefore, Front Street believes Ethiopia's Natural Red Cherry has pronounced sweetness, obvious fermented notes, citrus acidity, a berry juice mouthfeel, and a honey finish.

【Front Street Coffee Brazil Queen's Estate】
From Brazil's Mogiana region, at an altitude of 1,400-1,950m. The high altitude and fertile soil produce coffee beans that are clean, sweet, and full-bodied. Combined with Brazil's unique natural processing method, this Brazilian coffee gains a smooth mouthfeel and fermented notes. Front Street believes this coffee has sugarcane-like sweetness, nuts, creamy peanut, and the acidity of fermented fruit.

【Front Street Coffee Golden Mandheling】
Front Street Coffee's Golden Mandheling comes from PWN, a famous Indonesian green bean company. PWN's Golden Mandheling coffee beans undergo three rounds of manual sorting and one round of machine sorting, with a specification of 19 mesh or above, and fewer than 3 defective beans (per 300g green bean sample). The beans are beautiful and uniform, so the roasted coffee appears cleaner. Front Street believes Golden Mandheling has flavors of nuts, spices, herbs, licorice, chocolate, and caramel, with a clean, smooth flavor.
Front Streetdrip bag coffee brewingsuggestions
1. First, Front Street drip bag coffee has a fixed indicated net weight of coffee grounds (generally 10 grams). This solves the problem of needing a grinder and electronic scale.
2. Next, let's address the water volume and temperature. Like pour-over coffee, use a 1:15-1:16 ratio, so the brewed coffee should reach 140ml to 150ml. Use a water temperature of around 90°C. If you have a thermometer or temperature-controlled kettle, use those first. If not, you can roughly judge the temperature: generally, after boiling water, turn off the heat source, open the kettle lid, and wait 2-3 minutes—the water temperature will reach around 90°C (at a room temperature of 28°C).
3. Once prepared, take out and tear open the sealed opening of the drip bag, unfold the "ears" on both sides of the filter bag, hang it on the rim of a mug (or cup), and shake the coffee grounds level.
4. For the first pour, just enough to completely wet the coffee grounds, then let it bloom for 30 seconds.
5. After blooming, do the second pour. Use a slow circular motion to fill directly, wait for the grounds to slightly drop, then continue pouring to full. Repeat this until the coffee in the cup reaches about 140-150ml, then remove the drip bag and enjoy. (If you want more precise water volume, you can pour 150-160ml of water into the pouring kettle, and during brewing, after pouring all the water from the kettle, wait for the coffee to drain into the cup, then remove the drip bag. The entire brewing process takes about 1 minute.)

6. After extraction is complete, remove the drip bag and add fresh milk according to your taste.
